David A . Weir Staff reviewed the results of the Fall WestEd
Teach for Success “Sweeps” data and were content with what they viewed. The majority of the
teachers understood that this was a “snippet” of time however, agreed that we
should implement a school wide focus on Depth of Knowledge, specifically
designing lesson plans and learning objectives with a DOK Level 2-3 and/or
higher.
Every month FSUSD administrators meet to discuss our progress toward our district's goals in several areas. Each task force group is responsible for coming up with action items to move their goal area forward toward achieving the goals outlined in our LCAP or Local Control Area Plan. As we complete tasks, evidence will be posted here using the task force group and school labels so that you can easily follow along with our progress.

On February 18, 2016 the Weir staff viewed a video on the
SAMR model and discussed the below questions. The task was very appropriate
for our site as we do have one to one devices. The discussion and video
challenged us to move beyond the Substitution Stage.
·
What does SAMR currently look like at DAW?
o Varies by

David A. Weir's Book Drive for The Father's House
David A. Weir had an amazing time engaging with our community members and giving back to The Father's House, our community partner. Students and staff began the community engagement task by hosting a Book Drive for The Father's House Book Moblie (see photos below). We continued the momentum by hosting guest readers from all over the Fairfield Community for Read Across America & Literacy Character Day. The students and Staff had an awesome time engaging with the Police & Fire Departments, Fairfield Suisun Unifed District Staff, Fairfield Mayor and various other community leaders. We truly appreciate our Fairfield Community and enjoy our continued partnership.

David A Weir distributed both paper and electronic customer
service surveys and experienced success with both methods. Of all the people we
asked, we did not have one person refuse to complete a survey which we hope is
a good thing. We look forward to viewing the feedback from our visitors soon and to continue the Gold Standard Service.

Writing Rubrics at Weir
David A. Weir reports that 20 out of 23 (86%) of teachers
grades K through 8th had writing posted. Of the 23 classrooms observed, only four had both writing and rubrics posted. The four rubrics that were posted seemed very targeted and productive! Great job teachers. Using and posting rubrics is now a growth area for
our site. Check out our Focus on Writing!

Attendance at David A. Weir
After viewing the Attendance Toolkit on the
FSUSD website, David A. Weir is committed to continuous school wide recognition
for students with great attendance. Our TK through first grade students with perfect attendance for
the week will choose from our weekly Attendance Treasure Box. Our 2nd
through 8th grade students will continue to participate in our
school wide class competitions for best weekly and monthly attendance rates.
Lastly, the names of students with perfect attendance for each quarter will be recognized
with a certificate and wristband in our monthly awards assembly. These
student names will also be entered into a drawing for a field trip to Barnes
and Nobles with an administrator in which they will get a free book and food
item at Starbucks.

Thank You Assessment Task Force
We attended the SBAC Training and no matter how many times we view the assessment information, we ALWAYS learn something new each time. Thank you assessment team for your time and patience with the training the administrative team on SBAC! We feel so much more prepared for the assessments this school.
PBIS Meeting with JP @ Weir K-8
Meeting JP regarding PBIS was good confirmation
that our school site is in a great place with room for further growth. JP
proposed some new ideas such as having a PBIS handbook (which we had not yet
thought of) to aid in consistency with Tier I interventions.
It was also suggested to continuously use our school motto verbiage of Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe when directing and redirecting students to truly make sure our students are making the connection to PBIS and our school climate. Thank you JP!
